The Big Book of Songs

Welcome to Walden Pond Press

The Big Book of Songs is the easiest way for older kids and adults to get started playing songs with both white and black keys.

Play songs with both hands, using the right hand to play the melody, and the left hand playing chords (chords are groups of three keys played with the left hand.)

No musical training or experience is required.

The Big Book of Songs contains songs which make use of the black and white keys, whereas Piano Is Easy has songs on the white keys only.

This follows accepted piano curriculum where beginning lessons always start with the white keys alone to avoid confusion.

The Big Book contains chord symbols (chords are groups of three keys played with the left hand) so you can play with both hands. You can leave out the chords until you are ready to try them.

Sample Page from Big Book of Songs

In the sample page, the letters are the “chords,” the groups of three keys that you play (it’s optional) with your left hand. The numbers are the melody, played with the right hand.

Eventually, you’ll want to play with both hands and find the black keys once you’ve gotten used to songs that use only the white keys.

You’ll learn how to play more complex songs using both the black and white keys of the piano, like The Entertainer, America, Happy Birthday, Pop Goes the Weasel, My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean, Star Spangled Banner, Yankee Doodle and many more great songs that your child should try at the piano. Many famous songs require a black key or two, and this book shows you how.

It’s a great way for older children and adults to get started at beginner piano, too.
